According to the Fox Searchlight website Nathan Fillion has won the Audience Award for his role in"Waitress" at the Newport Beach Film Festival. The film itself also won the Audience Award for Best Feature.
Congratulations to Nathan, a well deserved win, I am sure there are many more awards in your future.  :grin:Â

I had been resisting the urge to sign up for the latest web phenomenon, "
Twitter", but no longer! Tonight Greg Yaitanes, the Director and executive producer of the new TV series "
Drive", will be
Twittering during the premiere of the show, basically a live commentary, and as I am a big fan of the star of this series,
Nathan Fillion, and of the co-creator
Tim Minear, I could no longer resist!
This seems to me to be by far one of the best ways this new service has been utilized so far, and I wonder what other new uses people will find for this.
For more information about "Drive" check out my
Joss Whedon blog.
Do you Twitter? What is the best use you have found for this service so far?

Another of the reasons for my lack of blogginess is my fan obsession with all things Whedon, at the moment I am following the news about Tim Minear and his new TV show "Drive".
For those of you who don't know, Mr Minear worked with Joss on "Angel" and "Firefly".
So I have been spending some time over at the site
drivefans.com, helping design banners, wallpapers and icons and just finding out what is going on at the moment.
Drive premieres on the Fox channel April 15th, so keep a hole in your schedule for it.
I have also added to my blogging workload by starting up my own Joss news site on wordpress.com that you can find at:

Drop by and visit sometime. :-)

I used my "Christmas" money from my mum to get a couple of bits I wanted online, and I received them yesterday!
My new Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 is now installed, though it will take me awhile to get used to all the extra features and new layout after using Elements 2.0 for such a long time.
I also got my
Bedlam Bards "On the Drift" CD. For those that don't know them, the Bedlam Bards are an American Folk group who describe their music thusly:
When people ask what kind of music we play, we often say Celtic, but in fact we play "Renfolk Music," that unique blend of Celtic, English, Scandinavian, and American folk music mixed in with period tunes from the Renaissance and Middle Ages that rubs shoulders with the occasional incognito rock song at most Renaissance festivals. And we have a lot of fun playing it.
The album "On the Drift" is a tribute album to the film "
Serenity" and the TV series "
Firefly" so may not have an immediate appeal to those not in the know but they are still a group well worth discovering if you like your music to have some passion. Their love of the Serenifly 'verse is apparent in their every note and lyric. For hardcore
Browncoats this album is a must!

Just as an update to my previous post on Flangate, I wanted to say that it looks as though all the 'coats that made it there had a grand old time hanging out with the cast and other people involved with the show, and not just Serenifly folks but other friends of Joss too.
Also I thought it would be good to post
a link to an account of one of the attendees/organisers as well to give a much more detailed account of the weekend.
Browncoats rock!

As a
Joss Whedon fan and bona-fide
Browncoat I am a little upset for my fellow "
Firefly" fanatics, the "Flan 500", who have traveled from all over the world to attend what should of been one of the great events in our fandoms history, only to get screwed over.
About a week ago the "organisers" of this event declared that there were some
problems arising financialy, but with only a week to go until the event they were still hoping to pull something out of the bag.
This seemed a bit weird as this was a "Sold Out" event with all the money already paid up-front. Still, the fans hoped and prayed and it was announced, to everyones relief, that the event was on still, not to worry.
Then with two days to go it was announced that the
event was cancelled.
Then half an hour later to disregard the previous message as the event was still on.
Much confusion ensued.
Finaly, with quite a few attendees already at the convention hotel and many other delegates in transit, there was a
final announcement that:
"Booster Entertainment apologizes for the great inconvenience, but due to unforeseen circumstances, Flanvention is cancelled. An official notice will be posted within 10 days."
They have now taken their website offline and (probably) gone in to hiding.
The
Southern California Browncoats and many others are trying to put together a back up bash/shindig, but at such short notice they will face many problems.
To the delight of the fans the cancellation of the event has not stopped some of the Firefly stars from turning up.
Adam Baldwin and
Mark Sheppard, you, sirs, are true Big Damn Heroes!
I hope all you guys have some fun this weekend.
